The best and the worst of the Fall 2024 box mixes

The fall season is coming in fast, and since Starbucks has decided it is already Pumpkin season, I wanted to do a recap of the fall flavors and mixes we tried last year to remind you which mixes to buy asap and which ones to avoid at all costs. I’m hoping we see these 5 star mixes come back soon and those 1 star mixes get replaced by something better this year.

5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Libbys Pumpkin Bread Mix

This pumpkin bread box mix comes with an entire can of pumpkin puree to make your pumpkin loaf. It’s extremely moist and makes two loaves, one to eat and one to share! It was simple and delicious. I can’t wait to buy it again when I see it in stores.

Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop Tart Cookies by Sugar Spun Run

Okay okay, this isn’t a box mix. This is a social media recipe we tried but it has the perfect fall vibes with the brown sugar cinnamon flavor profile. To be honest, I haven’t stopped thinking about these cookies since I made them and I want to encourage everyone to give these a shot and what better season than fall!

3 Stars ⭐⭐⭐

Pillsbury’s Perfectly pumpkin cookie mix

These Pillsbury cookies were good if you ignore the claim “perfectly pumpkin”. These are a spice cookie and a really good one. Very soft and delightful in flavor but really missed the mark with pumpkin flavoring.

Pumpkin Spice muffins, Krusteaz vs Martha White

Don’t bother with Martha White if you’re looking for a pumpkin spice cupcake. They were shameful and Krusteaz blew them out of the water. Krusteaz gave a nice soft muffin with the perfect amount of spice flavoring and they’re definitely worth baking.

1 Star …⭐

Jello’s Pumpkin style no bake pie

Do not, under any circumstances, waste your money on this “box mix”. This is a shameful product that I am hoping does not return to stores but it will forever be burned into my memory. Take a close look at this box and you’ll see it’s claiming to be a “pumpkin style” pie. Not even pumpkin pie. It tastes like the worst fall candle you have ever smelled, in a gooey consistency that never sets up and does not in any way shape or form contain pumpkin or pumpkin flavor. If you can’t be bothered to make it homemade, save yourself the heartache and buy a grocery store pre made pie.

Have you tried any of these mixes? I would love to hear your thoughts. I can’t wait to start shopping for new fall baking mixes this year, maybe we’ll be surprised with something new and delicious!

As a reminder, you can search the “All Posts” page for a specific mix or you can select the categories under the title of each blog post to search for specific topics such as “krusteaz” or “5 stars”. If you want some entertainment, you can select the category “1 star” and go through some of the most disappointing box mixes that companies should be ashamed of, I’m looking at you Jello no bake “pumpkin” pie. If you don’t see something that you’re interested in and you’d like me to review, just comment it below a post and I will give it a try!
