Whether you’re in summer mode still or getting into fall mode cranberry orange is the perfect flavor combination. Krusteaz sells this muffin mix but also gives guidelines on the back on how to turn this mixture into a loaf or into cookies so no matter what you’re craving, this mix can provide!

To make these muffins you need oil, water and eggs. Mix these ingredients together with the muffin mix and you have a batter. My favorite part of this box mix is that it comes with a can of cranberries with orange zest. I really like the addition of the canned fruit as it is much better than a dehydrated fruit being mixed in and typically easier for baking than a fresh fruit. I mixed this into the batter and it has a really good fruit flavor.

Using a 1 tablespoon sized scoop I scooped out the batter and the box called for 12 muffins but with this size I could easily have gotten 13-14 muffins. However I distributed the extra batter into the 12 muffins to avoid baking a second pan.

The muffins went into the oven at 400°. The box called for 18-20 minutes and I found at 17 minutes they were done. The tops had started to brown slightly but the bottoms had definitely browned.

Now I wasn’t sure how well the orange flavor would come through but when I took a bite I instantly knew that this was the perfect pairing. The orange was more subtle than the cranberry flavor but they meshed together perfectly. These muffins weren’t very sweet so you could tell it wasn’t a cupcake without frosting. You could definitely eat these for breakfast. Or if you want something sweeter the box provides a recipe for an orange glaze you can put on top of this muffin. Either way, I highly recommend picking up this mix.
