While wandering the aisles of Dollar Tree I came across this mix from Martha White for brownie bites. I haven’t tried many products from Martha White and I am always looking for a good box mix brownie so I knew we had to get it to try it out. For only $1.25 let’s see how good it is.

This mix is small and simple, it only takes one egg and some oil. I mixed it together and the batter had a good consistency and tasted very artificial like a chocolate syrup. It wasn’t much batter, you definitely couldn’t put this into any pan to bake into brownies, you are really limited to placing this batter into a mini cupcake pan like the recipe suggests.

Using a tablespoon sized scoop only about 3/4 full, I filled the mini cupcake cups up to the recommended 2/3 full. In total I was able to get 17 mini brownie bites scooped out. I was glad to see more than a dozen but since they are mini in size this still feels like a small amount of actual baked brownie.

I placed both of my mini cupcake pans in the oven at the same time at 350. The recipe calls for 12-14 minutes. I checked on them frequently and found at exactly 12 minis they were baked and the toothpick came out clean. They looked really good with the crackle top, I didn’t expect this considering they were in muffin shape

For a box mix brownie, these were pretty good. They had a good consistency but definitely still tasted like chocolate syrup. They stuck to the cupcake papers pretty bad so I didn’t love that but you can make these without papers so it is what it is. Weirdly enough, some of the brownies were hollow too, like the top rose up, became crackled, and then the inside sank back down. For $1.25, these hit the brownie spot but I would go for the more expensive mix if I was sharing these with a group.
