Holiday mixes from 2024, what to expect going into this baking season

As we approach the holiday season, many stores are preparing and putting out seasonal mixes. I’ve seen a few new products I am looking forward to trying and a lot of repeats from last year. Let’s talk about all the seasonal mixes and recipes we tried last holiday season and I’ll tell you which ones are worth revisiting and which ones you can avoid wasting money on. If you’re looking for just really good holiday cookie mixes from last year, check out this cookie guide post.

This mix earned a generous 3 stars. The marshmallow swirl took away from the brownies and in my opinion a plain brownie would have been better.
This social media recipe earned 3 stars. The idea was there but the execution wasn’t the best. I changed it up by adding some Chex mix into the recipe, which was great until it got soggy the next day.
This mix was 5 stars easily. Nestle Carnation has provided you with every single thing you need to make the perfect fudge.
This mix really earned that 2 star rating. Sad flat cookies with a chocolate flavor that is lacking and those bits you expect to be marshmallows are really hard bits more like white chocolate.
Gingerbread cookies are important so in this post I did a side by side comparison of the great value brand and the Betty Crocker brand. It was close, you couldn’t go wrong with either but ultimately I liked the great value brand more. I’ll be keeping my eyes open for any different brands jumping in with their own mix this year.
Target’s cookie butter cups were hands down a 5 star dessert and I hope to see this mix in stores again. I would personally buy multiple to boxes to keep on hand. The only downside was that it made only 12 cookie cups.
4 stars and really good. If you like peppermint, you’re going to love these. Betty Crocker improved their bake times in the soft baked mixes so I can definitely recommend these.
4 stars and a tasty cookie. If you want an easy crinkle cookie, this is it. Definitely a good mix to make for a cookie exchange or a holiday potluck.

I am seeing more and more companies slapping seasonal packing on plain mixes and promoting it as a new product without providing anything additional and it saturates the market with the same ol’ desserts. What mixes have caught your eye this year? Are there any specific mixes you’d like to see me try out? I am definitely anticipating a Jello Peppermint no bake cheesecake mix, a Duncan Hines swiss mix chocolate cake mix, and a social media recipe for an eggnog cake.

Eggnog cake could be terrible or it could be geniusly delicious. I can’t wait to learn which it will be. As for recipes I would love to see, the Snickersoodle holds a dear place in my heart. A Snickerdoodle combination with candy cane flakes for a holiday mix-up would be nice to see…or better yet, a fudge center Snickerdoodle for a spin on the classic Hershey Kiss cookie.
