Trying a Facebook hack, combining brownies with Reese’s no bake bars

While surfing Facebook reels, I came across this hack in a video by Onesweetmama and she showed herself combining Ghirardelli brownies and Reeses no bake bars by baking the brownies and then adding the no bake bars right on top. As soon as I saw this I knew we had to give it a try because both of these box mixes alone are amazing, but how is it when the two mixes are combined? Let’s find out!

We previously tried Betty Crocker’s Reese’s no bake bars and they were amazing and super simple. We haven’t specifically tried a Ghirardelli brownie mix on this page (they have been included in some social media hacks like this one) simply because the number of brownie variations they sell are endless! I have pondered testing them all side by side to see if there is a difference between ultimate chocolate, double chocolate, dark chocolate etc. I personally would love to know if they vary at all or if it is the same brownie in different packaging. Would you want to see this showdown? Let me know in the comments if so.

This brownie mix is the same as any other, you combine the Ghirardelli box mix with oil, eggs, and water then bake it. I used an 8×8 pan since it looked similar to the size used in the video hack. Once baked, the pan of brownies needs to cool down before you can move on. While it cooled, I prepped the next step which was to combine the Reese’s no bake bar mix with melted butter. Since the butter is melted it stays pretty thin and is perfectly spreadable.

The next step is to spread the no bake mix on top of the pan of brownies. Then top it with the chocolate mixture from the Reese’s box mix. I don’t know if it is specifically stated anywhere in this hack to now chill the pan but I did put it in the fridge for a bit to let it set up and get firm enough to cut. Once firm, I cut this pan into my standard 4×4 size making 16 of these brownies… wait, are these considered brownies? Technically this is brownies with a topping right? But simply calling this giant dessert a brownie feels wrong in many ways. I think I’ll refer to it as a topped brownie to make myself feel better.

I have to admit my first reaction was no, then maybe, and eventually a yes. Now hear me out, this dessert is simply too much. I think I would recommend cutting each of these topped brownies into quarters and simply enjoying one or two. However when I did cut them smaller I found they separated and fell apart and became the no bake bar, and the brownie, separately. These were overwhelmingly sweet but the flavor profile was there. Maybe if only a thin layer of the no bake peanut butter bar was used instead of the full mixture that was as thick as the brownie on top, it could have been a definite yes from me. I love dessert and the peanut butter with chocolate combination is one of my go-to favorites but I could not eat many of these without feeling like I would be ill.

I would love to see your comparison of the different Ghiradelli brownies! I’ve always wondered the same thing.
